In order to create a pool of well-trained manpower in the field of virology, internship / project dissertation facility / hands on training in viral diagnosis and various other molecular biology aspects of Virology are envisaged at the Institute under the mentoring of the scientists. The students undergoing PG/graduate courses in subject areas of Life Sciences can undertake these projects as part of their curriculum in the following departments/laboratories.

1. Viral Diagnostics
2. Viral Vaccines
3. Antiviral Drug Research
4. Virus Applications
5. Basic &General Virology
6. Virus Epidemiology, Vector Dynamics & Public Health
7. Synthetic Chemistry Laboratory
8. Molecular Bio Assay Laboratory

The applicants have to submit a half-page write up about the objectives they want to achieve as part of the internship and also choice of the department/s along with the application. The selection will be based on the choice made, vacancy in the labs and availability of suitable mentor.

The application must be supported by a recommendation letter from the Head of Department/Principal of the Institution where the student is undergoing the UG/PG course endorsing that the candidate/institution will not use any of the data generated during the training period to make independent publications or IPR generation; and that the candidate will obey the rules and regulations of the institute.
